Sanggam-dong Japanese Military Officers’ Residences

The Sanggam-dong Japanese Military Officers’ Residences were discovered in 2005 during a residential development project in Sanggam-dong. They are believed to have been built in the early 1930s as single-family homes for Japanese military officers.


These residences are unique in South Korea. Originally, there were around 20 houses, but only two have been relocated to their current site and restored. Directly across the main road stands the Seoul Japanese School, creating an intriguing historical juxtaposition.
